Weirds WG meeting @ IETF 87 1 August 2013 -- Berlin, Germany The co-chairs gave a brief summary of current document status: two have completed IETF LC and are scheduled for the 8/15 telechat, one has completed WGLC, and a couple of others are in development. Pete Resnick (responsible AD) asked the room to confirm that the publication of the object inventory draft was actually useful and/or necessary. After several people advocated for its publication, the documentÕs milestone was added to the charter. Marc presented a set of issues and a couple of design proposals for solving the bootstrapping problem (see slides). There were mixed feelings about both options and quite a bit of discussion. There was some feeling that we want to limit our dependence on IANA. Coordination with the sidr WG was suggested. We ran out of time for this topic, so the work goes back to the mailing list. Carlos presented about redirection. Questions were asked about whether redirection will be centrally managed or in the realm of developers, and whether it will be recursive. The topic of federated authentication was raised, which might be fodder for an additional draft. ItÕs clear we have more work to do on this topic as well, so it too was sent back to the mailing list. Ning presented on some open questions with search. Consensus seems to be that we will handle only a basic search capability in our base documents, and that we will not deal with advanced search given an absence of current support in WHOIS and no commitment to implement anything beyond basic RDAP search. The remaining questions were deferred back to the mailing list.
