********************************************************************** IETF 89 PWE3 - Tuesday, March 4, 2013 - 14:20 - 15:50 Buckingham (30/60 min allocated; ** Please note the time adjustments.) ********************************************************************** Chairs: Matthew Bocci and Andy Malis Secretary: David Sinicrope (x = slide sets NOT received as of March 3, 2014 12:00 London Time) 1. 15 min - Agenda bash, WG Agenda and Status - Andy MALIS and Matthew BOCCI See slides status reduction - no authors, looking for last call, but no feedback RFC4447bis- ready for last call per authors Expired Drafts CongCons - expired, co authors left to YJS, needs editing, tech work mostly done. In TSV area, there is work on “circuit breakers” which is extension to this work. MPLS-TP MS PW - is this still needed? the ITU-T hasn't shown much interest in this. Chairs will see if this work can be discontinued redundancy-spe - authors have requested comments from WG. will be updated after IETF. Number read draft is only a couple. Please read new version MSPW-er will be revised Adrian will be new area director. Sharam: will VCCV2 be deprecated? Matthew: Due to implementation survey it isn't possible to deprecate. YJS: tried to deprecate, but implementation survey didn't allow. Tried to discourage use, but got into a rat hole. Himanshu: VCCV for GAL - is expired Matthew: will cover a summary of where we are at if there is time. 2. 10 min - Mac Withdrawal signaling over static PW. - Himanshu SHAH http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-boutros-pwe3-mpls-tp-mac-wd-03.txt (will post the latest update soon) Objective - provide update on progress made in the latest revision and request for adoption as WG draft Himanshu presented the slides. Stewart: what happens if all three Mac withdraws get dropped, you would get black holing for a longer period. Sharam: when you send this Mac withdraw to other PEs where do they withdraw the Mac from the original PW? Himanshu: Yes, flush all the mac addresses on all PWs except where you got the Mac flush PDU. This already exists in 4762, but we are using for static PW in MPLS-TP. This uses inband OAM. Reset Sequence Number Logic When Node or PW reset (de or reconfigured) this is sent local node sends to remote peer to reset sequence numbers. See logic flow diagram in slides. Sharam: is for only one or multi-Mac addresses? Himanshu: both Andy: did a WG adoption poll 2 years ago. PWE3 recommended that it be submitted to L2VPN. Samy sent email to include L2vpn at the time. Himanshu: we discussed this in the last IETF. Nothing discussed in Mac withdraw processing. This is only about signaling like status signaling so not appropriate for L2VPN and more appropriate for PWE3. Luca: how is this different from current withdraw from LDP. Himanshu: nothing Luca: can you make a 10 line draft that references current draft and shows different signal? Himanshu: already small, and defines the singal format and sequence. Very minimum text. Luca: if you refer and minimize then no question things not changed and will progress quickly. Himanshu: We have implmemented and are seeing much more interest Luca: no argument just a quesiton of progression Himanshu: already as minimum as possible. No real controversy and no contradiction w/ L2VPN. Andy: Matthew and I will confer and will confer with L2VPN and make a decision. Himanshu: but last time we concluded that PWE3 was the proper place 3. 10 min - Multi-chassis PON Protection in MPLS - Yuanlong JIANG http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-jiang-pwe3-mc-pon Objective - get direction from the WG Yuanlong presented the slides. Asking for more WG review and looking for more scenarios to broaden use cases. Asking for WG adoption. Matthew: adoption of current document or broader document for more access technologies Yuanlong: this version and then broader once adopted. Matthew: 1/2 dozen read draft Andy: not a whole lot of discussion on list until recently. Please read and comment on the list. 4. 5 min - LDP extensions for Pseudowire Binding to LSP Tunnels - Mach CHEN http://tools.ietf.org/html/draft-ietf-pwe3-mpls-tp-pw-over-bidir-lsp-02 Objective - give an update and ask for WG last call for the draft. Looking to send document to WG Last call Himanshu: important feature needed for single side co-routed bi directional. Matthew: been around for a while. Who has read this version? only about 6, but has been around for a while. Andy: good comments on previous versions of the draft and draft updated to reflect comments. Matthew: watch list for last call announcement. Matthew: anything to say on VCCV for GAL? (VCCV type 4) Luca: where's Tom N? He was heading it. 3 documens 4447 bis for last call refresh adoption keep alive draft, but not sure if interest. If not, willing to drop it. VCCV Type 4, Tom lead author, we set out a stable draft but probably expired. Nothing current, willing to drop. WG: No! Luca: then we need someone to drive. Himanshu: I can help. We need the draft and the IANA assignment. Matthew: please sort out refreshing the draft. Himanshu: Yes. Is WG draft. YJS: Proposal for this. 3 drafts around this. THere is far less interest but want to close type 4. We should make one draft that says here are the types, deprecate 2 and add 4. Luca: rfc4447bis is just an errata with no tech changes. The document you are talking about is there. We didn't want to go down a rat hole. Don't want to open RFC 5085. Just need to progress this, it is in good shape. YJS: WG wanted to clean up all documents, but no time. So we will just progress the current draft. ********************************************************************** Overflow (Will be presented if time permits.) ********************************************************************** xx. - None currently ********************************************************************** REMOTE INFORMATION FOR THE PWE3 SESSION(S) ********************************************************************** Remote Participation Info: http://www.ietf.org/meeting/89/remote-participation.html - No WebEx - Audio will be on: http://ietf89streaming.dnsalias.net/ietf/ietf893.m3u - Jabber room is "pwe3" @jabber.ietf.org
