Meeting logistics and agenda, Chairs * 16:05 - 15 min - 2. Status on Research Challenges in AI for NM document Next steps: continue progressing with document content. create a draft as snapshots of the document. * 16:20 - 15 min - 3. Status on Intent Classification, Olga Havel, draft-irtf-nmrg-ibn-intent-classification v-00 available on DT and GitHub. working on v-01 to address all received comments. should be ready for IETF 109 cutoff. Olga - Some of the comments will be addressed by the end of september or during october. Laurent - Cut off date of IETF 109 is 02-11-2020. Olga - Yes, the goal is November. * 16:35 - 15 min - 4. Status on IBN Concepts and Definitions, Alex Clemm, draft-irtf-nmrg-ibn-concepts-definitions -02 just published. Addressed reviews and comments received. authors beleive document content getting quite stable. would like to move towards RG reviews and submissio to IRSG by Nov 2020. Jérôme highlighted the process for IRTF RFCs (RG reviews, IRSG review...) Jéferson: importance of the Document Shepherd role to follow and support progress in RFC publication process * 16:50 - 15 min - 5. IBN - Use Cases, Jéferson Nobre Laurent: important aspect in the IBN work plan. how to support? common template? expected outcome? important also for architecture discussion (common functions, etc.) Luis: support. work on two use case I-D: transport slice, and interconnection, talk to other authors to see if this approach is valid Laurent: collect all use cases in one document, key use case document separate, comparison of them, lessons learned Luis: prefer to keep document separate for now. Jéferson: common description in a document. keep use case separate. Olga: what should be the scope considered for the use cases? especially if want to use for architecture. consider aspect of taxonomy/classification? Laurent: scope on classification drafts, in between positions, see value on pragmatic works, keep it open as possible. If the scope very wide, it will be challeging to accomodate at the end e.g. how to find commonalities... have already few examples of nice use cases... it depends of contributions on documents Jéferson - scope can be addressed in doc Laurent - outcome from the use cases, pinpoint some functionalities, evaluations can help to understand specific problems, expectations. * 17:05 - xx min - 6. Miscelleanous / Open discussion ** Other I-Ds ** IETF 109 Hackathon ** Scouting (new/emerging research questions, technologies...) Laurent - Topic: residual configurations. going to mailing list. some papers that link to that. trying to find pattern. Olga - context of intents or non consistent configuration? Laurent - open right now, can see interesting cases to identify patterns in configuration using AI, my idea is to see if it is an interesting question, initital proposition Olga - IBN somehow present some classification, AI/ML presents some misconfiguration, Dean - configuration is ephemeral, using provisioning info from intent it is created state, intent definied by operator or customer, whole idea you can always delete the whole provisioning info from the network devices, everything is related, configuration fixed, but everything else ephemeral, reprovisioning og the device in case of a failure, idea is that to se where provisioing info is from Olga - figure out config problem considering from intents Dean - long time problem, automated provisioning systems, for debbuging systems, what as your systems of record? if you have a manual intervention Laurent - guidelines, good practices, typical processes to follow, pragmatic cases Dean - operators decide what is the system of record. more automation, using. after a system reboot, what is the inicitial configutation. how to get my basic networking running and the ephemeral state. RESTCONF added a persistent state and things changed from initiial intention. Interesting with network slicing, network multiple layers, over the foundation of the network, work into research, minimum set of info to network to be functioning, what could be a main statement from the problems we are seeing when we are considering overlays, issues from booting up devices, happy to prepare a starting doc to sumarize interest in the group Laurent - NMRG meeting to invite speakers to frame, to discuss in the group if we want to go further, it is a good research question for the group Dean - early in the IETF, several operators, many questions open from a equipments side ... using ZTP in a secure way, some time to pass to IETF Olga - send email with descriptions Laurent - work with Jêrome on that Dean - will send graphic representation on what operators are working on *** Participants (18): 1.
