• Marie-Jose Montpetit: addresses a lot of pain points of people trying to do distrib. apps in IoT. A lot of these elements don’t even have an IP addr. A lot are exposed to industrial busses like BACNET(?) - what do you do in between the device and IP world?

  • CG: can run over anything.
  • MJM: but haven’t tried it? This is interesting once you organize the lower layers, which is a big job. Need lower-layer hooks, if those are there I could see how to use this, it would save some time. There is a lot of data formatting/processing below what you are doing.
  • CG: so far the work around sensors is based on a ucontroller (Arduino or so)…
  • MJM: but a lot of the pain comes from dealing with existing industrial systems that only expose their data through weird ways.

• Ken Calvert: What is the security architecture?

  • CG: This is left to the application. It’s not part of the design. You will need to include signatures or whatever.

• Börje Ohlman: have you implemented this over NDN or CCN or other ICN protocols?

  • CG: no…
  • BO: do you see any problems if someone would like to?
  • CG: no, but don’t see the benefit of doing it.

• Dirk: You didn’t mention security at all. Is there anything?

  • CG: have user access control in the roadmap, also some other things. Not there yet, but will be there.
  • Dirk: very interesting, thanks for bringing it.

• Dirk: how would you deal with things that go wrong, e.g., transport protocol failure. Is there an exception system?

  • Junxiao: transport will be reconnected automatically/indefinitely, with exponential backoff. Some, like bluetooth, will not. But WebSockets will always reconnect.

• Dirk: What is an attractive scenario for using NDNts? What is your intention? Interesting feature: can run in a browser. Is the motivation to build applications in a browser?

  • Junxiao: Yes, I’m building web applications. Previous library that can run in browser is ndn-js, but it’s no longer maintained.

• Dirk: we have started using NDNts for some experiments. Possible next topic: how would you name browser, these seem interesting?

  • JS: will start implementing FLIC when it has encoding specs.
  • DK: there are impls in python…
