Russ Housley reported that the WIMSE BOF will look at overlaps and gaps
in the secure workload identity space.
Russ Housley reported that the SPICE BOF proposes a new Working Group to
support digital credential formats based on existing IETF standards, and
extend them to support stakeholders that are building compliance and
automation systems based on industry adopted cryptography and protocols.
Russ Housley reported that the DULT BOF will look at forming a Working
Group to work on the security and privacy implications of
location-tracking accessories.

Glenn Parsons reported that this PAR is to correct technical and
editorial errors identified and agreed by the IEEE 802.1 Working Group
maintenance activity comprising: https://www.802-1.org/items/431,
https://www.802-1.org/items/451, https://www.802-1.org/items/456, and
https://www.802-1.org/ items/471. The management module changes needed
are applicable in the context of IEEE Std 802.1CBcv(TM)-2021.
Glenn Parsons reported that this amendment adds support of the Internal
Sublayer Service by the IEEE Std 802.15.6 MAC entity. This amendment
also includes technical and editorial corrections in the description of
existing IEEE Std 802.1AC functionality.
Glenn Parsons reported that this amendment specifies YANG modules that
allow configuration and status reporting for systems implementing Link
Aggregation, and optionally Distributed Resilient Network Interconnect,
based on the capabilities currently specified in clause 7 (management)
and Annex D (Management Information Base definitions). This amendment
also includes technical and editorial corrections in the description of
existing IEEE Std 802.1AX functionality.
Dorothy Stanley reported that this amendment expands on the usefulness
of the SUN PHYs. It defines new data rate extensions by increasing the
occupied bandwidth and/or adding new modulation and coding schemes
(MCSs) and extending the SUN PHY specifications with a focus on
long-range communication in congested environments with at least one
mode of the SUN-Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) PHY
exceeding -120 dBm @ 1% packet error rate (PER) 64 bytes (payload) by
using lower data rates intended for Federal Communications Commission
(FCC) 15.247 digital modulation system.
Dorothy Stanley reported that this amendment updates and expands
coexistence recommendations to address new market requirements, address
increasing data traffic, greater device density of devices based on both
IEEE Std 802.11 and IEEE Std 802.15.4 sub-1GHz standards, and increased
potential for congestion. This project will include recommendations that
consider expected deployments of new devices based on both IEEE Std
802.11 and IEEE Std 802.15.4 sub-1GHz standards as well as compatibility
with deployed legacy devices. This project will include updated
recommendations based on changes to IEEE Std 802.11 and IEEE Std
802.15.4 since the initial revision of this recommended practice.
Potential Areas for IETF/IEEE802 Coordination, v42
Éric Vyncke reported that draft-ietf-intarea-rfc7042bis is currently in
the state "Approved-announcement to be sent::Revised I-D Needed." He
suggested keeping this coordination item open until that draft is in the
RFC Editor Queue.
Russ Housley reported that Janos Farkas sent him an update on this
coordination item via email prior to this call, and that he will add the
details to the coordination document.
The owners of this item will be updated to John Scudder and Janos
Farkas.
P802.1AXdx will define a YANG model for link aggregation.
Rob Wilton said that CBOR encoding of YANG (SID files) is is being
standardized. There is a document on the IESG telechat on 2023-10-26,
draft-ietf-core-sid, that defines the semantics, the registration, and
assignment processes of YANG SIDs for IETF managed YANG modules.
Glenn Parsons suggested that it might be useful to present this at one
of the upcoming YANGsters meetings. Rob Wilton will coordinate with
Scott Mansfield to give an update on SID to the YANGsters group.
John Scudder reported for Jim Guichard that the L3DL work is still on
hold in LSVR. It is gated on LSVR's completion of their main
specification and an updated WG charter.
John Scudder reported that the RAW WG has closed, but that work on the
RAW architecture document (draft-ietf-raw-architecture) will continue in
the DETNET WG.
Éric Vyncke said that he was not sure whether the MADINAS documents have
been shared with P802.1, P802.11bh, and P802.11bi. Dorothty Stanley
asked Peter Yee to include this in his next liaison report.
Francesca Palombini reported that the IETF is planning to restructure
their Areas in March 2024 to create a new Web and Internet Transport
(WIT) Area and close the existing Transport Area (TSV). The details of
this plan were sent to the IETF community in an email in September
2023.
Jon Rosdahl noted that the IETF and the IEEE 802 are both planning to
meet in Madrid in July 2025, and asked where a joint session would be
useful. Éric Vyncke will follow up with the IESG and IAB about whether
to have a joint session with IEEE 802 in Madrid.
