He was on a panel on AI standards alongside ITU, ISO, ICANN, IEC, ETSI, IEEE etc. - Dhruv presented at inSIG 2024 in Bangalore. They were also on a panel on the Internet Governance ecosystem alongside ISOC and ICANN. - Roman, Tommy, and Mirja attended a virtual session at the EU's High Level Internet Group on Internet Governance and provided a preview of IETF 121 activities. Some key upcoming events of importance are - - ANSI Consortia Roundtable in DC (Oct 2024) (Alissa is attending) - NANOG and RIPE meetings (Oct 2024) - ICANN 81 in Istanbul (Nov 2024) IAB NEMOPS workshop outreach - Benoit presented at LACNIC42/LACNOG in Paraguay - Qin, Kent & Warren will be at NANOG92/ARIN54 in Toronto to present about the workshop and hold a breakout session - Benoit will present in RIPE89 in Prague - Mahesh will present in AutoConn2 in Denver (Nov 2024) - After the workshop - APRICOT2025/APNIC59 (Dhruv) - NANOG93 (Suresh) News: - IAB decided to participate in APRICOT2025/APNIC59 in Feb 2025. The venue is moved from Dhaka to Petaling Jaya, Malaysia (PJ is a suburb of KL). Next step to finalize the format. - We still need to shortlist an internet governance event for 2025 (IGF 2025, ICANN events, WSIS+20,...) --End IAB Outreach Coordinator Report, Dhruv Dhody-- 2.4 M3AAWG Liaison Report --Begin M3AAWG Liaison Report, Barry Leiba-- M3AAWG just had a meeting last week in Toronto, so it's a good time for an update. - M3AAWG is heavily involved in DMARC, with several members participating in (and co-chairing) the IETF working group. - Some M3 members are following the work in MAILMAINT (and the chair comes from M3AAWG). - The "mobile" side of M3AAWG (the three M's are Messaging, Malware, Mobile) is closely following the ongoing deployment of and regulatory/policy aspects of STIR/SHAKEN. - There is lots of interest in our work on prepping the security protocols for post-quantum algorithms. The keynote speaker at the Toronto meeting was a professor from U of Waterloo, talking about quantum computing and quantum- safe cryptography. - A group of M3AAWG members are working (not officially chartered by M3AAWG) to specify a DKIM2 proposal to bring to the IETF. The plan is to improve some of the weak points of DKIM so as to allow it to address some of the DMARC issues. - Some people from M3AAWG are likely to be back to us soon with a BoF proposal for a second BIMI BoF (the first was at IETF 104 in 2019). There is still strong interest in developing a standard around it. - There's interest in starting new work in M3AAWG on best practices for security end-user networks (home and small businesses). This might tie into IETF work in TEEP, SUIT, RATS, and possibly MADINAS, as well as some of the work that was done in HOMENET. No help needed from the IAB at this point, though if/when the BIMI people come back with a new BoF proposal it would be good for them to get some advice from the IAB. No concerns at this point either. --End M3AAWG Liaison Report, Barry Leiba-- 2.5 Other Liaison Reports Mirja Kühlewind said that the liaison coordinators met last week and are working on some bis documents, as well as discussing whether a liaison manager for ITU SG12 is needed. Ryan Polk mentioned that Monday is Annual Encryption Day, and he will send the IAB more information about ways to get involved. He also reported that an anti-CSAM regulation that would weaken encryption in the EU did not pass, which is a big win for the technical community. Mirja Kühlewind noted that EODir will be holding a new Meetecho tutorial during the Sunday of IETF 121, and the Systers are planning to talk with IESG leadership about the action plan from the report on womens' experiences in the IETF. Roman Danyliw reported that IETF 121 will be the last time ALLDISPATCH is run as an experiment, and the IESG would like feedback on whether to continue it. 3. BOF Coverage at IETF 121 The IAB discussed who will be attending which BOFs at IETF 121, which are listed at https://wiki.ietf.org/group/iab/Bof121. • High Performance Wide Area Network (HPWAN) - WIT: Suresh • Digital Emblems (DIEM) - INT: Dhruv, Tommy • RESTful Provisioning Protocol (RPP) - ART: Wes • Deepspace (DEEPSPACE) - INT: Wes, Colin 4.
