Discussion

There was a good discussion of issues related to the security draft. The
conversation about what would be places where the working group could find
consensus on the degree of change/updates/enhancements to existing standards
track RFCs.

An important baseline point is that no breaking changes to the current XDR
would be acceptable to an update of v4.1/v4.2. Additions to the XDR would
be acceptable.

A significant portion of the working group recalls the last time the WG
attempted to develop a universal ACL defintion with mapping between multiple
operating system clients and multiple server storage backends and determined
that with the current freedom in the ACL design, it cannot be done. Finding
middle ground possibilities or some other way to get consensus on how
conforming the updates can be to create to true interoperability in the
standard.
