Errata processing for RFCs about the RFC Series In March[1], the IAB agreed to transfer the processing of errata for the following RFCs about the RFC Series to the RFC Series Approval Board (RSAB): • RFC 5620 RFC Editor Model (Version 1) • RFC 7669 Assigning Digital Object Identifiers to RFCs • RFC 8728 RFC Editor Model (Version 2) • RFC 9280 RFC Editor Model (Version 3) • RFC 8729 The RFC Series and RFC Editor • RFC 6949 RFC Series Format Requirements and Future Development • RFC 7749 The "xml2rfc" Version 2 Vocabulary • RFC 7990 RFC Format Framework • RFC 7991 The "xml2rfc" Version 3 Vocabulary • RFC 7992 HTML Format for RFCs • RFC 7993 Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) Requirements for RFCs • RFC 7994 Requirements for Plain-Text RFCs • RFC 7995 PDF Format for RFCs • RFC 7996 SVG Drawings for RFCs: SVG 1.2 RFC • RFC 7997 The Use of Non-ASCII Characters in RFCs • RFC 7998 "xml2rfc" Version 3 Preparation Tool Description • RFC 8153 Digital Preservation Considerations for the RFC Series • RFC 7322 RFC Style Guide • RFC 5741 RFC 7841 RFC Streams, Headers, and Boilerplates • RFC 8700 Fifty Years of RFCs Mirja Kühlewind requested that Sandy Ginoza allow the RSAB Chair access to manage errata for the above-named RFCs. [1] https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/minutes-interim-2024-iab-12-202403202200/ 2. RSAB Chair Handover Logistics Via e-vote, Alexis Rossi was selected as the next RSAB Chair. The RSAB agreed that the chair handover would happen at the beginning of IETF 120, on Saturday, 2024-07-20. The RSAB thanked Mirja Kühlewind for her service as RSAB Chair over the past two years. 3. Moderation of the RSWG list Mirja Kühlewind noted that the RSAB's expectation is that the RSWG Chairs will moderate the RSWG list, but currently the only moderators are from the RFC Production Center. Jay Daley will add the RSWG Chairs as owners of the RSWG list so that they can handle moderation. 4. Community call extension for draft-rswg-rfc7990-updates The RSAB discussed whether to extend the Community Call for Comments on draft-rswg-rfc7990-updates. Eliot Lear said that the call should be extended because this is the first time a document on the Editorial Stream has been sent out for review and people may not be paying attention because the process is new. Mirja Kühlewind replied that she is concerned that extending the call due to lack of current responses might suggest that the call would need to remain open until some threshold of responses was reached. Alexis Rossi said that she does not expect that there will be any additional feedback, but since this is the first document of this type and Eliot raised a concern, she is fine with extending the call for comments. Colin Perkins said that he did not object to extending the call for comments. The RSAB agreed to extend the call for comments on draft-rswg- rfc7990-updates by two weeks. * Action item: Alexis Rossi to draft text for the message extending the call for comments on draft-rswg-rfc7990-updates and send it out to the RSAB for review. 5. Discussion on feedback from draft-rswg-rfc7990-updates community call so far The RSAB discussed Carsten Bormann's feedback on draft-rswg-rfc7990- updates. Mirja Kühlewind said that she sent email to Carsten Bormann to try to understand whether the comments are editorial or substantial. She suggested that the text might be clarified by replacing "version" with "revision" in three places. Jay Daley said that RFC 9280 doesn't give the RSAB authority to make such changes; either they accept the text as is, or they return it to the RSWG. There was already a very long conversation about the current words in the document in the RSWG. Pete Resnick said that Carsten's comments were discussed in the RSWG and determined to be in the rough. Eliot Lear said that if the comments are editorial, then they can be addressed in AUTH48. Mirja Kühlewind said that she wanted to make sure all comments were addressed before the RSAB started balloting on the document. Jay Daley said per RFC 9280, "If substantial comments are received in response to the community call for comments, the RSAB may return the proposal to the RSWG to consider those comments and make revisions to address the feedback received." So, the decision before the RSAB is whether to return the proposal to the RSWG. Colin Perkins said that the volume of discussion on the feedback thus far would indicate that the comments are substantial rather than editorial. Mirja Kühlewind said that since the RSAB already agreed to extend the community call for comments on draft-rswg-rfc7990-updates, they should do that before sending the document back to the RSWG. 6. Executive Session on addition feedback received during the community call for comments on draft-rswg-rfc7990-updates Additional comments on draft-rswg-rfc7990-updates were discussed in an executive session. * Action item: Jay Daley will propose a response to the comments on draft-rswg-rfc7990-updates that were discussed in executive session. 7. Next RSAB Meeting The RSAB agreed to meet during the lunch slot on Monday, 2024-07-22 at IETF 120.
