Alvaro Retana

Alvaro Retana is VP, Technology Strategy in the Future Networks group at Futurewei Technologies. He also chairs the IETF-LAC Task Force for LACNOG, with the objective of increasing the participation of people from Latin America and the Caribbean in the IETF. He has published 4 technical books and has been awarded multiple patents by the US Patent and Trademark Office. Alvaro has been participating in the IETF since 1998, mainly in the Routing Area. He previously co-chaired Routing Area Working Group (rtgwg) and the Source Packet Routing in Networking WG (spring), and has co-authored several documents on routing technology. Alvaro currently serves as Routing Area Director.
