Joe Hildebrand is a Cisco Distinguished Engineer in the Corporate Strategic Innovation Group, which builds corporate-scale technology strategies for Cisco. Previously, he ran architecture for WebEx, was the CTO at Jabber Inc., was the Chief Architect at a custom software development company, built battlefield messaging systems, and engineered robots and their control systems for safety-critical applications. Joe has co-chaired several IETF working groups (including XMPP, HyBi, and webpush), serves on the RFC Series Oversight Committee (RSOC), and has a deep interest in protocols designed for use by typical application developers. He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1992.
