Verisign is owner of U.S. Provisional Patent Application Serial No. 63/892,538 (“Patent Application”) relating to the subject matter of Internet Draft "draft-seethiraju-dawn-dan-00" and any successive versions deriving therefrom (collectively, the “I-D”).

In furtherance of IETF standardization, it is Verisign's business practice to make licenses to its patents available on reasonable and nondiscriminatory terms and conditions.

Verisign grants to any party a non-sublicenseable, world-wide, non-exclusive, no-charge, irrevocable (except as provided below) license under the Patent Application to make, use, and/or import products and/or services that implement the I-D for the sole purpose of facilitating the standardization of the I-D (“Standards Development Grant”).

This Standards Development Grant shall terminate upon the earlier of: (i) the expiration of the I-D; or (ii) the date the I-D is published in the Request for Comments (“RFC”) Series.

In the event the I-D is published as an Experimental, Informational, or Standards Track RFC, as described in RFC 2026 and its successors, (“Specification”) such that one or more claims of patents that issue from the Patent Application would necessarily be infringed due to requirements for practicing the normative portion(s) of such Specification (each an “Essential Claim”), following termination of the Standards Development Grant (as described above) Verisign grants to any party a non-sublicenseable, world-wide, non-exclusive, no-charge, irrevocable (except as provided below) license under each Essential Claim to make, use, sell, offer for sale and import products and/or services that implement the Specification; provided, Verisign retains the sole and exclusive right to:

(i) terminate the above license and assert its patents (including Essential Claims) against any party that institutes or agrees to institute patent litigation (including cross-claims or counterclaims in a lawsuit), either directly or indirectly, against Verisign or any of its affiliates or products,

(ii) assert its patents (including Essential Claims) relating to any products or services that are not fully compliant with the Specification, and

(iii) assert its other patents and claims with respect to any products, services, or portions thereof, not required for compliance with the Specification and exclusive of the Essential Claims.

Royalty-bearing licenses may be available upon request.
