This LS informs about the consent of Recommendation ITU-T Y.3181 (ex-Y.ML-IMT2020-sandbox) “Architectural framework for Machine Learning Sandbox in future networks including IMT-2020”. ITU-T Study Group 13 would like to inform you about the consent of Recommendation ITU-T Y.3181 (ex-Y.ML-IMT2020-sandbox) “Architectural framework for Machine Learning Sandbox in future networks including IMT-2020” (see attachment), which has been progressed within Question 20/13 ("Networks beyond IMT-2020 and machine learning: Requirements and architecture"). This document derives from a deliverable of the Focus Group on Machine Learning for Future Networks including 5G (FG-ML5G) established under ITU-T SG13 in November 2017. The document describes requirements and high-level architecture for ML sandbox in future networks including IMT-2020. Architectural components along with corresponding reference points and APIs are specified. SG13 believes that this document will help in improving the robustness and resilience of future ML-enabled networking systems. ML sandbox allows the evaluation and validation of ML models in an isolated environment using simulators, before their deployment in the real network. SG13 looks forward to keeping continued collaboration and exchange with you in the field of ML in networks. For your information, SG13 will hold its next co-located Rapporteurs’ group meetings on 14-25 November 2022 - meeting time and venue are available in SG13 - Future networks and emerging network technologies (itu.int).
