ITU-T SG17 appreciated the information provided in the liaison statement from IETF (Ref: IETF-LS31), in which the important works being undertaken within the IETF DIEM Working Group were introduced and the position of IETF on the specific DIEM issue was explained. ITU-T SG17 recognizes the value of the efforts currently under way at the IETF, particularly in developing technical mechanisms and specifications related to the discovery and verification of digital emblems. ITU-T SG17 also recognizes that the two related technical reports being undertaken within ITU-T SG17 Q1 would aim at raising awareness on all the underlying issues that reveal significant complexities regarding their implementations on technical, operational, legal, and design sides, etc., which would require specific standards developed by IETF. ITU-T SG17 would like to keep developing the two technical reports XSTR.diem (Attachment 1) and XSTR.diem-asset (Attachment 2) with the close collaboration with IETF, which would help our works of both sides avoid overlap and make them complementary. Action Required: ITU-T SG17 looks forward to continued collaboration and coordination with the IETF DIEM Working Group, and would like to explore and identify opportunities for coordination and collaboration among ITU-T SG17, the ICRC, and IETF DIEM Working Group on the topic of Digital Emblem.
