Updating IAB Program Descriptions The IAB approved updated text for the IAB web pages on "Programs and Groups," "History of Programs," "Technical Programs," and "Administrative Support Groups." Cindy Morgan will work with the Secretariat team to post the updated content. 4. Recommendations for testing protocols in varying/global conditions Tommy Pauly said that he is planning to give a presentation in MAPRG on "Testing Protocols in Simulated Network Conditions." He briefly ran through the presentation and asked the IAB if they had any feedback on the content, or if there are other venues this should be brought to. Suresh Krishnan said it might be difficult to get people to share actual numbers. Alissa Cooper asked whether it would be useful to have some sort of hierarchy on the profiles so that different conditions are simulated. Matthew Bocci noted that often, events are modeled on how the implementation works, rather than the protocol itself, and that it would be helpful to have that kind of feedback brought back into the IETF. Alvaro Retana asked what the venue would be for this work, since it will be a long-term effort. He said that he is not convinced that that the IAB should do this work, but it might be valuable for the IAB to suggest that others do this work. Colin Perkins suggested that it might be useful to talk to the GAIA Research Group about this effort. 5. ISOC updates Ryan Polk updated the IAB on some of the current work of the Internet Society. The Policymakers Program at IETF 120 will have 13 policymakers from 8 different countries. The focus will be on the importance of open standards, how the Internet works, and how they can incorporate what the Internet needs into policymaking. In terms of policy trends, the Internet Society is seeing ongoing encryption threats and routing security concerns. Ryan Polk thanked the IAB for signing onto the 'Comments of the Internet Society, Internet Architecture Board, and Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers in the Matter of "Reporting on Border Gateway Protocol Risk Mitigation Progress."' 6. Executive Session: RZERC Appointment The IAB appointment to the ICANN Root Zone Evolution Review Committee (RZERC) was discussed in an executive session. 7.
