Adjusting our meeting date for October

  • 2025-09-23
  • 2025-10-28 <- we should move this further away from the IETF meeting
    on November 1-7
  • 2025-12-09

Two weeks earlier would be 2025-10-14
One week earlier would be 2025-10-21

Does anyone have a suggestion?

  • Result of discussion - meet on 2025-10-14

Action: Spencer to request meeting slots for our updated list of
meetings, for the balance of 2025.

Registration of application/x-font-otf

Spencer and Robert have (sort of) an answer from IANA, in private email.

If this is in Matroska v5, that can do the registration (it's an IETF
stream standards track document).

If we want to register the deprecated alias, that goes through Expert
Review and IESG approval.

Ordinarily, we would not use the Errata process to add to an IANA
registry, but the deprecated media types aren't in a registry today ...
(so should we add ALL of the deprecated media types to a new registry?)

Action Robert to confirm what actions need to be taken for other
deprecated media types in RFC 9559 with Steve in email

Action Robert can confer with people in person, in Bangkok to
confirm the necessary process with our AD (Orie Steele) once we pick a
plan.

Potential movement beyond RFC9559

At our previous meeting we said:

We still need to do some analysis on what's actually needed in PR 946

Has anything been done?

and

PR 932 isn't controversial, we can just merge this now

This has not yet been merged?

Question from RjS: Is any merged result working towards a 9559bis?

Discussion - we've been adding "errata" to the Matroska document in
Github without actually waiting for the errata to be accepted in the RFC
Editor system.

(We chatted for a bit about the formal errata process and
https://www.rfc-editor.org/errata_search.php?rfc=9639&rec_status=15&presentation=table)

(See previous discussion)

For PR 932 -

For PR 946 -

RjS noted that it's not easy to find our documents in our Github
repository. We could provide a roadmap to help with that.

Could we provide any guidance to an unfamiliar participant that would
help them more than searching the Github repository.

(we could also make a subdirectory for each document in the repository -
that would help a lot)

Milestone review:

Our current working group document status is

tags-15

Issues are here, PRs are here.

At our previous meeting we said:

  • Feedback from Spencer's review of tags-15?

We have about a dozen PRs reflecting Spencer's questions, both for
tags-15 and for codec-14.

One tricky part - we are generating some markdown from XML files, and if
you don't know how that is structured, it's challenging to make changes.

Action: Spencer to review the PRs for spec-type and provide
feedback.

Action: Spencer will initiate Working Group Last Call for tags-16
(with corrections from -15)

PRs for CODEC-14

Issues are here, PRs are here.

At our previous meeting we said:

*** codec-14 has some pull requests
PR 937 - SMPTE12 time code bit order needs to be clarified
PR 745 - needs a rebase and edit
PR 446 needs to be rebased
These aren't controversial, just need some attention

Do we have an update?

Any update on chapter-codecs-05?

At the our previous meeting we said:

Have not done much work on this recently (focus has been on first two
Mastroska extension documents)

We do have a reference to a specification that is not public (DVD1
will always be private)

Action Spencer to chase this reference so we can do the right thing
(we might have a solution as of the end of January 2025!)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD_Forum
https://web.archive.org/web/20241128004023/http://www.dvdforum.org:80/about-mission.htm

https://www.dvdfllc.co.jp/notice.html "DVD Format Books (DVD
Specifications) will be deposited to the National Diet Library (NDL),
Japan (https://www.ndl.go.jp/en/index.html) as technology assets,
early 2025
."

Do we have an update?

Action: Steve is watching for an update from the National Diet
Library, and will notify the working group when he sees it.

Any update on control-05?

At the our previous meeting we said:

This was taken out of the main Matroska specification because we
thought it was underspecified.

We may want to drop this document in the future. The document is not a
priority right now - no one is using it.

Do we have an update?

We can drop this, at least for now, until it is ripe.

Action: Robert will push the buttons to drop this specification.

AOB?

Next meeting is 2025-04-08.
