Original notice received November 8, 2000 Amended Notice received December 6, 2000 From: Gib Ritenour This is to advise the IETF that Nortel Networks has several patents (US 4,736,363, US 5,848,055, US 5,881,246, and US 5,995,503.) that it believes may relate to MPLS technology. Where there is a necessary dependence upon these patents in implementations of MPLS, Nortel Networks hereby agrees to license on fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory terms to all parties, any patent claims it owns covering such technology, solely to the extent such technology is essential to comply with such standard, but on the condition that any such party grants to Nortel Networks and its corporate affiliates a reciprocal license under such party's patents for which there is also a necessary dependence.
