IETF NVO3 to IEEE 802.1 regarding VDP extensions
|
Body |
Dear Matthew and Benson, Thank you for your liaison updating IEEE 802.1 on NVO3’s progress on the requirements for a Control Plane Protocol between server Hypervisors and Network Virtualization Edge (NVE) devices in virtualized overlay networks. As a result of the draft and your request, we have begun the process of starting a project to extend VDP to support NVO3. The Project Authorization Request for the proposed project can be found at: http://ieee802.org/1/files/public/docs2015/cn-thaler-Qcn-draft-PAR.pdf We expect that the PAR will be forwarded for approval this week and could be approved by the IEEE Standards Association Standards Board in September. We look forward to working with the NVO3 Working Group as we develop this draft. We do not currently have any feedback on draft-ietf-nvo3-hpvr2nvecp-req. We will review the latest version of your draft at our November plenary. |
