The IETF would like to inform 3GPP about the upcoming Netslices BoF (Birds of a Feather) session, which will be held in the IETF meeting in Prague (July 16-21, 2017). BoF sessions are used by the IETF to explore new areas where potential IETF may be needed. The Netslices BoF relates to the network slicing functionality 5G systems will include. Therefore, individuals from 3GPP groups working on network slicing may want to actively participate in the BoF. As such, the goal of the BoF is to investigate the problem space and discuss what work might need to be done in an IETF context. That is, the BoF will not result in the direct chartering of a new working group. |
