The IAB would like to make the EBU/ETSI JTC Broadcast aware of the registration process for URI schemes as defined in Section 7.2 of RFC7595. It was brought to our attention that ETSI TS 102 818 V3.4.1 (2022-05) uses the URI scheme “postal”, but we have not found a registration for it in the URI Schemes IANA registry. RFC7595 describes a registration process, which is "first come first served" for provisional registrations and based on expert review for permanent URI schemes. In order to avoid the risk that others might also choose the same scheme name, the IETF recommends potential registrants to note the scheme name in the registry as soon as possible. We therefore request you to apply the registration process as specified in RFC7595. This will ensure nobody else will be able to officially register the “postal” scheme with conflicting syntax and/or semantics. Thanks for your cooperation on this matter! The IAB |
