Liaison statement
LS on initiation of new work item ITU-T Y.ecs-reqts "Edge computing – Functional requirements of edge computing service (ECS)”

This liaison statement introduces the initiation of new draft Recommendations
on "Edge computing - Functional requirements of edge computing service (ECS)".

We would like to inform you that we are starting new work item on "Edge
computing - Functional requirements of edge computing service (ECS)"
(Y.ecs-reqts), which could be found in attachment.

In Y.3540 (“Edge computing – Overview and high-level requirements”), Edge
computing service provides edge computing capabilities according to the
characteristics required by edge computing applications on an edge computing
infrastructure.

The initial draft Recommendation Y.ecs-reqts aims to offer functional
requirements of edge computing service. To provide its functional requirements,
this Recommendation specifies the introduction to edge computing service
focusing on introduction of internal logical components including alignments
with IUT-T Y.3540. This Recommendation also identifies the various use cases
related to the use of edge computing service in terms of edge computing
provider and edge computing customer.

We would like to receive your comments and collaboration on the future works on
this Recommendation and hope you can share with us your edge computing related
works, if you have similar studies in this area.
