Reply LS on Multi-SDO Autonomous Networks (AN) Formal Liaison: Call for Candidate Proposals for AN SDO Information Sharing

1 Overall description

SA5 thanks TM Forum for the LS on Multi-SDO Autonomous Networks (AN) Formal
Liaison: Call for Candidate Proposals for AN SDO Information Sharing in
S5-237342. 3GPP SA5 standardization work is categorized into three aspects:
Intelligence and Automation, Management Architecture and Mechanisms, Support of
New Services. We are now focusing on concluding Rel-18 work and starting
preparation for Rel-19 topics.

In Rel-18, there are some topics which are closely related to Autonomous
Networks which provide use cases, requirements and solutions to satisfy
operator’s AN transformation for mobile networks, for example:

- Self-Configuration of RAN NEs (TS 28.317)
- Management Data Analytics (TS 28.104)
- AI/ML management (TS 28.105)
- Intent driven Management Service for mobile network (TS 28.312)
- Service based management architecture (TS 28.533)
- Closed control loop (TS 28.535/28.536)

In Rel-19, the following topics will be further studied:
- S5-238133 Study on AI/ML management - phase 2
- S5-238134 Study on Management Data Analytics (MDA) – Phase 3
- S5-238135 Study on intent driven management services for mobile network phase
3 - S5-238136 Study on closed control loop management - S5-238196 Study on
Service Based Management Architecture enhancement phase 3 - S5-238243 Study on
Enhanced OAM for management exposure to external consumers

Regarding the candidate proposal from TM Forum, we think to align the industry
AN challenge with the CSP pain points and requirements in AN transformation
would be higher priority topic. We would like also to have some elaboration on
the meaning of the following terms in the candidate proposals:

1. “AN transformation”
2. “hybrid intent APIs”

For the meeting time, we prefer Thursday 13:00 UTC-15:00 UTC. The date needs to
be coordinated with SA5 leaders to avoid conflict with 3GPP meeting week and
rapporteur call plan.

To TM Forum
ACTION: SA5 asks TM Forum to elaborate the meaning of two terms and take the
information mentioned above into consideration for further plan of Multi-SDO
activities.
