The following approval message was sent
From: The IESG
To: "Nevil Brownlee" , draft-steffann-tunnels@tools.ietf.org
Cc: The IESG , ,
Subject: Results of IETF-conflict review for draft-steffann-tunnels-04

The IESG has completed a review of draft-steffann-tunnels-04 consistent
with RFC5742.

The IESG has no problem with the publication of 'A Comparison of IPv6
over IPv4 Tunnel Mechanisms'  as an
Informational RFC.

The IESG has concluded that this work is related to IETF work done in WG
, but this relationship does not prevent publishing.

The IESG would also like the RFC-Editor to review the comments in the
datatracker related to this document and determine whether or not they
merit incorporation into the document. Comments may exist in both the
ballot and the history log.

The IESG review is documented at:
http://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/conflict-review-steffann-tunnels/

A URL of the reviewed Internet Draft is:

The process for such documents is described at

Thank you,

The IESG Secretary

[Ballot comment]
I have no objection to the publication of this survey, but think that it would have been better taken through the IETF process where it would have received a more complete technical review.

The working group chairs for v6ops didn't respond to my request for comment, but 6man and intarea are okay with it, and I suspect v6ops didn't answer because they don't mind it, so I think we can approve it.  The work seems to be work v6ops could have done, so I listed v6ops in the conflict review text.

The draft draft-steffann-tunnels-04
is ready for publication from the Independent Stream.
Please ask IESG to review it, as set out in RFC 5742.

The following is some background for this draft, please forward it
to IESG along with this request ...

This draft was briefly discussed in the v6ops WG, but didn't attract
any support there.

It's abstracdt says:
"This document provides an overview of various ways to tunnel IPv6
packets over IPv4 networks. It covers mechanisms in current use,
touches on several mechanisms that are now only of historic interest,
and discusses some newer tunnel mechanisms that are not (yet) widely
used at the time of publication. The goal of the document is helping
people with an IPv6-in-IPv4 tunneling need to select the mechanisms
that may apply to them."

It's been reviewed by Fred Baker and Brian Carpenter, both of whom
sugessted improvements, which Vasiliy has made.

Thanks, Nevil (ISE)
