In Progress:

  - 2021-10-18: John Levine to update draft-iab-rfc7991bis with help
    from Peter Saint-Andre.
    * Deadline 2022-03

Done:

  - 2021-11-16: Jay Daley to complete a website (authors.ietf.org) with
information on how to write an I-D and the tools available to
    support this (Recommendation 8).

MINUTES
---------------------------------

1. Administrivia

The minutes of the 2022-01-10 RSOC meeting were approved.

2. v3 Issues and Tools

Peter Saint-Andre reported that John Levine is continuing work on
draft-iab-rfc7991bis. He said that he expects an updated version to be
posted to the I-D repository fairly soon.

3. Recommendations Following From the I-D Authors Survey

Jay Daley reported that the authors.ietf.org site has been completed
  and will go live soon.

There was a suggestion to separate the markdown details out from the
XML details, but for the most part, the details for using markdown and
XML should be in the documentation for the tools, not on
  authors.ietf.org.

4. RFC-Futures Update

The IAB Call for Comments on draft-iab-rfcefdp-rfced-model ends on
2022-03-07. So far, some nits have been reported, but nothing major.

Cindy Morgan noted that the last IAB meeting before IETF 113 will be
on 2022-03-09, and asked whether it would be possible to get a new
revision that incorporates the feedback before that meeting. Peter
Saint-Andre said that he thinks it should be possible; he will send an
email to the RFC Editor Future Development Program chairs and the IAB
  Chair to coordinate.

5. RSOC Transition Planning

Peter Saint-Andre reported that he and Jay Daley had talked to both
the RPC and the RFC XML and Style Guide change management team about
things that will need to transition when RSOC winds down. RSOC was
also invited to the IAB meeting on 2022-03-02 to discuss this topic.

The biggest concern is how to work through the day-to-day issues that
come up as documents go through the editing process. The RFC XML and
Style Guide change management team has been working on issues that
come up with authors about the XML grammar and vocabulary and
providing guidance back to the RPC as necessary. The RPC will need
some sort of similar structure going forward. Much of that will likely
fall to the RFC Series Advisory Board (RSAB).

Tony Hansen asked if there is any RSOC work that needs to be finished
before RSOC disbands. Peter Saint-Andre reported that it would be good
  to have draft-iab-rfc7991bis done.

Sandy Ginoza asked when the RSOC will be dissolved. Peter Saint-Andre
said that he wasn't sure, but that it would likely be when the RSAB is
seated and the RFC Series Working Group chairs have been selected.
Cullen Jennings suggested that the first RSAB meeting could be joint
with RSOC to finalize the handover.

RSOC will discuss this with the IAB at the IAB meeting on 2022-03-02.
