RFC 4491 describes use of the GOST R 34.10-94, GOST R 34.10-2001, and GOST R 34.11-94 Algorithms with the Internet X.509 Public Key Infrastructure Certificate and CRL Profile. RFC 4491 was produced in the IETF as a Standards-Track document. The latest versions of the GOST algorithms are GOST R 34.10-2012 and GOST R 34.11-2012, while the algorithms described in RFC 4491 had all been deprecated by January of 2014 and their use was forbidden from January 1st, 2020. Use of GOST R 34.10-2012 and GOST R 34.11-2012 with the X.509 PKI Certificate and CRL Profile are described in a new document being progressed in the Independent Submission Stream. Consequently, RFC 4491 is moved to Historic Status.
