Final Charter for Working Group
This working group was chartered to extend the RFC 822 message format to
facilitate multi-media mail and alternate character sets. RFCs 1341
and RFC 1342 document the Multi-Media Extensions for Internet Mail.
The working group will work to progress MIME to Draft Standard status
and provide a forum for the review of standards track content-type
specifications and the review of character set extensions to MIME.
|Submit the Japanese Character set specification as an Informational document.
|Submit the revised MIME document to the IESG for consideration as a Draft Standard.
|Post a revised version of the MIME document as an Internet-Draft.
|Post an Internet-Draft for the use of Japanese Characters for Internet Mail.
|Submit the document as a Proposed Standard.
|Review and finalize the draft document.
|Post a first Internet-Draft.
|Review exiting writing, resolve outstanding issues, identify new work, and work toward a complete document.
|Review the Charter, and refine the Group's focus. Decide whether this is a worthwhile effort.
|Discuss, debate, and choose a framework for the solution. Assign writing assignments, and identify issues to be resolved.
