Abstract

  This document updates the IAB Charter (RFC 2850) to be consistent
  with version 3 of the RFC Editor Model (draft-iab-rfcefdp-rfced-
  model).

No IPR declarations have been submitted directly on this I-D.

The original IAB charter in RFC 2850 claims that the IAB is chartered
both as a committee of the IETF and as an advisory body of the Internet Society.
Can we change the charter and retain this dual status, without approval of
the Internet Society?
It seems this was already considered, in
https://mailarchive.ietf.org/arch/msg/rfced-future/RMeW4u_-ZbeJ23oYUcZ9ZAg2kkY/ ,
but the mailarchive does not seem to find any evidence that any action was taken
to consult the ISOC Board.

It should be indicated somewhere that this document should be part of BCP 39.  My preference would be as an RFC Editor Note in the ballot/IESG Writeup.

Hi,

  Note that RFC 2850 states that the RFC Editor appoints a liaison
  member to the IAB.  This does not change, but refers to the RFC
  Editor function as described in [I-D.iab-rfcefdp-rfced-model].

It isn't entirely clear to me exactly who (as in which person or body) is actually responsible for appointing a liaison member to the IAB (given, as per draft-iab-rfcefdp-rfced-model, the RFC editor function responsibilities are split up into multiple entities).  My assumption is that this would be RSAB, but perhaps I mistaken.  Would it be helpful to clarify this - perhaps in draft-iab-rfcefdp-rfced-model?
